Okay so, yes it has been a while but I've been working on this post and I have also been writing my dissertation! Hope you're ready for some grim pictures and a full skincare routine...

I would say for around 4 years, I have had really tiny bumps under my skin on my forehead and cheeks. For ages I just put it down to hormonal problems but this year I had had enough and went to the doctors to see if they could give me anything for it or at least tell me what it was. They said I had mild acne and prescribed me Duac Gel. This literally did nothing at all. So I done some research and I came across this video [HERE]. The girl in this video is an angel sent down from heaven to fix everyones bumpy skin. Whist watching this video I was introduced to a fungal acne called 'Malassezia' which is basically yeast on your skin. Gross I know. It looks like the pictures below (sorry)

I know these images aren't totally clear, but its basically loads of really tiny bumps that sit under your skin. They aren't painful just not nice to look at, and whilst you can cover the them with make up, you can still see the texture of them. The redness isn't always there, I just have a red face anyways hahaha.

These bumps can be brought on by the products we use of our face, and the video suggested using the website https://www.sezia.co. Here, you can enter the name of your product and it will tell you if it has any ingredients that promotes this type of acne. So straight away I went through more or less everything I owned, not many of my products have any of the ingredients but I like to use the website for when I'm purchasing a new product.

Previous to this, I didn't really use anything major on my skin, just mainly moisturiser and cleanser, occasionally a face mask but I really wanted to up my game so I now use the following method, which helped me get rid of the bumps under my skin...

Morning
Every morning I cleanse my face using The Body Shop Aloe Calming Cream Cleanser. I put a layer of it on my face and then wash it off a minute later.

Then I use The Body Shop Aloe Claming Toner by putting a small amount on a cotton pad and wiping it all over my face.

If I have any other spots I put a small amount of pure tea tree oil on a cotton bud and wipe that over the spot(s).

After this I use the No7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream for Normal/Oily Skin due to me having an oily T-zone.

Evening
My evening routine is a bit longer and sometimes changes.

First I will remove my make up by using the same cleanser as I do in the morning but I use the No7 Facial Cleansing Brush Polisher, which is one of them brushes with the head that spins. This allows me to remove my make up and cleanse at the same time.

After this, again, I use the same toner as the morning just to tone my face and make sure theres no make up left after I washed the cleanser off.

Next, I use Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo as a face mask for 30 minutes. This sounds strange but trust me, it gets rid of all of them bumps. Something in it fights the fungal infection sitting on your skin. I do this every night without fail, it's a very important step to get rid of them bumps.

I also like to put on the No7 Protect and Perfect Eye Cream, I don't really know if this does anything to wrinkles or not but its nice to think it does.

Typically after this I put on The Body Shop Tea Tree Night Lotion and then place the same moisturiser as the morning on top. Sometimes I use the Aveeno Daily Moisturiser if my skin feels a bit dry.

This is my skincare routine day to day however, there are some changes that I sometimes make, these are listed below...

Morning
If my skin is having typical breakouts, not related to malassezia, I like to use The Body Shop Tea Tree Foaming cleanser to wash my face, it just gives me an extra cleanse to help fight the spots and redness.

If my skin is feeling really dry, which is can due to the tea tree, I like to use The Body Shop Drops of Light Liquid Peel. You just rub this on your skin until loads of dry skin appears to be coming off in clumps (its as gross as it sounds). This almost renews your skin, getting rid of the dry patches.

Evening
Again, If I'm having break outs unrelated to malassezia I like to use a product with tea tree in it. Of an evening I use the Carbon Theory Facial Cleansing bar (this does promote fungal acne however I use once in a while to help breakouts - it won't hurt). You just have to wet the bar with warm water, rub this on your face and leave it for 30 seconds. Then wash it off.

If my skin feels really dry (mainly in the changing seasons) I put on a thick layer of the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream and leave it on whilst I sleep. Sometimes I put this on my lips if they're feeling dry.

Face Masks
When it comes to face masks, 9 times out of 10 I have an allergic reaction. So I don't really use them that often however I have a couple that are good for my skin that I like to use, these are ...

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Face Mask - I like to use this one when I am having a bad breakout. I leave it on my face for 15 - 30 minutes and then wash it off using the No7 brush I mentioned earlier.

I also have used Fuller's Earth before, which I have heard loads of good things about, and it made my skin feel nice when I used it but I try not to use this one as its quite messy. Its basically a bag of brown powder, which you can buy on Amazon. You mix it with a small amount of water using a WOODEN spoon. It is really important that you don't use a metal spoon, as it reacts with the product and leaves your face very red, tight and stinging (this happened to me, not nice). Just as the previous mask, you leave it on for 30 minutes and then wash it off with cold water. This mask gets rid of redness as well as helps get rid of breakouts.

Make up
I just wanted to mention that it is also important for you to be checking your make up on the website as well just incase, especially if you have skin like mine. I have found that the Estee Lauder  Double Wear Foundation works wonders for acne prone skin, so if you're stuck on a foundation, it's worth the money. All of my make up has come up as suitable for skin that suffers from this fungal acne so look at both of my instagrams (millielaing and millielaingmakeup) for full breakdowns of what I use on my face.
Please also remember to wash your make up brushes at least once a month. You can do this by firstly, getting the brush/ sponge wet and then rubbing it in hand wash. If you are washing a sponge you repeat this over and over again until it is clean. If you are washing brushes, once washed with hand wash you want to squirt a small amount of conditioner on your hand and rub the brush on it and wash with cold water. Then place your brushes upside down and leave to try.

The Result So Far
So sorry for how ugly I look, but wearing make up to show my skin atm would defeat the object of this! The following images have not been edited at all, they have been taken on my phone and sent straight over to my laptop for this post!

So from these images, I think its pretty clear that 90% of the bumps under my skin have gone, this is after a month of this skin care routine! Try to ignore any redness because, as I said before, my face can be quite red. I also have a scar on my forehead (thanks Niamh) that looks kinda like a bump but it isn't. I do have a few bumps and a couple of breakouts from that time of the month but, overall, I would say that my new routine has defiantly made my skin clear and smoother in texture.

If you have the same bumps that I did, I really recommend watching the video that I have mentioned, she goes into lots of detail and recommends some different products to me!

I hope this post was helpful for some of you that are reading, let me know your favourite skin care product!
